The Holiday Season…

Don’t get me wrong, I love the holidays, but I can do without the craziness that the holiday season brings. It brings out the worst in a lot people. I am talking about the lunatics on the road, that flip you off because they cut you off, the crazed shoppers at the mall, who will literally knock you over if you are in the way, and who could forget, the extremely bitchy staff at stores. Yes, it is officially the holiday season. What is it about the holidays that make people so irritable and cranky? The secret to holiday happiness is killing rude people with kindness. Wave at the idiot driving erratically, smile at the grouchy shoppers and cashiers, and just go about your business as if no one else exists. You can always throw in a peppermint mocha latte from Starbucks too!
If you can, try and avoid the mall at all costs. If you must go, try and go at an off time, either early in the morning or late at night. If at all possible, do all your shopping online and avoid the crowded malls and stores. Go with a game plan. Strategically map out what stores you need to hit, with a detailed list of exactly you need to buy. Get in and get out ASAP. Always be alert when leaving the mall. Numerous patrons are mugged or attacked when heading to their car. If you do intend to shop late at night, bring a companion to go with you. Have your keys in your hand prior to exiting the mall, walk swiftly and look around while proceeding to your car. As we all know, the economy is hurting, people are desperate and will do anything to survive. Always be aware of your surroundings.
So take a minute to truly understand and appreciate what the holidays are about. People get caught up in the moment and lose sight of the true meaning. Be grateful for all that you have and consider giving to those less fortunate.
