Living in New Jersey, we are lucky to be in the center of almost everything. Fun is never too far! And with the 80-degree weather we have been having almost every other day, it seems like everyone is itching for summer and a place to hang out and catch up on some lost sun. But where can you go to celebrate the summer weather and upcoming summer months? Grab your beach towel and get ready to put the top down. It’s almost summer!
If you plan on living on or near MU’s campus this summer, all you have to do is sit in your back yard for a great summer day.
With it’s own private beach, eccentric collection of restaurants and shops and apartments for sale and rent, Pier Village is the perfect spot for anyone looking to have a good time, both during the day and at night.
If your ideal summer is spent tanning on the beach all day and then going out at night to one of the hottest destinations on the Jersey Shore than Pier Village is definitely for you. With restaurants that become nightclubs, authentic Japanese cuisine, plenty of cafés and a Wine Loft, there is never a dull moment, no matter what the weather.
Another beach that is always full of plenty of locals is Belmar Beach.
The beaches of Belmar stretch for over a mile and have some of the most popular summer attractions in New Jersey. With playgrounds every few blocks, a boardwalk and several beaches devoted to boogie boarding, kayaking and surfing, there is something for everyone!
“Belmar is kind of expensive to get on the beach but once you’re there its pretty much like a big beach party because everyone knows each other!” said Jamie Petraglia, a junior here at Monmouth.
If the beach isn’t your thing, don’t worry, there is still hope!
Six Flags Great Adventure, Hurricane Harbor and Wild Safari are a great way to enjoy a nice spring or summer day without getting sand in your shoes. Located in Jackson, NJ and as part of the world’s largest amusement park corporation, there is always something to do at Six Flags.
Whether you just want to walk down Main Street to people watch, or check out Adventure Alley, the park’s newest area for the 2012 season, “you can literally never be bored at Six Flags. There are so many rides and games, and there always seems to be some kind of concert going on. It’s always a great day with friends,” said Breanna Fiorenza, a junior at Monmouth from Staten Island.
With so many ways to get discounted tickets, rides, food and VIP treatment Six Flags great Adventure, Hurricane Harbor and Wild Safari are a must visit for the summer season!
Another amusement park that is sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face is Mountain Creek Water Park. Where else can you go zip lining, mini golfing, horseback riding and still have time to try over two dozen different rides, slides and other attractions?
Not only can you visit the water park, but Mountain Creek also offers a Bike Park, a spa that has been named #1 spa in New Jersey, and the Alpine Mountain Coaster, finished this spring!
Who knew there was so much to do locally? With so many new things to try this summer we better start soon!
